How it’s grown

Regenerative organic agriculture

The Baviaanskloof Devco uses state-of-the-art regenerative agricultural methods to grow its crops. Everything is organically certified and no chemical fertilizers or pesticides are added. Farmers plant cover crops between their fields to nourish and protect the soil, and allow animals graze between the rows of rosemary. They apply compost, compostea and biochar.

Broader landscape impact

The Baviaanskloof Devco was established as an economic lever to drive the large-scale rehabilitation of degraded land in the mountains. Significant rehabilitation efforts have been implemented since the inception of the company, and are ongoing. Living Lands. is managing this process together with the farmers and other residents of the Baviaanskloof.
